Vince Power Receives Honorary CBE
LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Music mogul Vince Power has become an honorary CBE for his services to the British music industry.
The Irish-born Power opened the original Mean Fiddler club in northwest London in 1982. He took over many top London venues such as The Forum, Astoria and The Jazz Café, as well as controlling interests in the Reading and Leeds festivals.
After selling his company, Mean Fiddler, in 2005, he launched a new venture, Vince Power Music Group, to oversee smaller venues and international festivals.
“I am surprised and pleased to be given this honour. It’s been a long road, 25 years in the music industry,” said Power. “I hope I will continue to contribute to the British music industry in the years to come.”
Presenting him with the award, UK Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell said: “Mr. Power has done a huge amount to raise the profile of live music in the UK.
“Through his work with music festivals and venues, his contribution has been fundamental in shaping the landscape of music in Britain today.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
