Time flies! It’s hard to believe that 50 First Dates premiered 14 years ago already. The hit romantic comedy came six years after Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler first co-starred together on The Wedding Singer, and it’s remained our favorite film since 2004.

In the film, Drew plays Lucy Whitmore, a girl who sadly suffered short-term memory loss from a car accident. Henry (played by Adam) then finds a way to make her fall in love with him over and over again every single day since she can’t remember what happened the day prior.

When Adam and Drew’s third movie together, Blended, came out in 2014, Drew opened up about what it was like working with him in an interview with Huffington Post. “50 First Dates was actually a different script. It was more of a drama, and it was called 50 First Kisses. I knew about it, and I knew he knew it. In fact, I think it had drifted to his company [Happy Madison Productions], and it was something that I’d just been a big fan of for a long time and I loved the writing,” she began.

Drew added, “I sat down at a typewriter, and I couldn’t stop crying while I was writing the letter because I had this swelling moment where I was so convinced that I knew what we were supposed to do next.”

“I said, ‘It’s the script that you have and it’s called 50 First Kisses. Here’s why I think we should turn this into our next movie.’ Then he did a lot of writing on it and we made it into more of a comedy, and it is what it is,” Drew added. Since the two love working together so much, we’re still crossing our fingers for a 50 First Dates 2!
