Peter Serafinowicz is a British actor, comedian, director, and screenwriter.
Peter is the son of Catherine and Szymon Serafinowicz. His father’s family was Belarusian and Polish. His mother’s family was of at least part Irish descent. He is the brother of film producer James Serafinowicz and writer Helen Serafinowicz. Helen was married to writer Graham Linehan.
Peter is married to actress Sarah Alexander, with whom he has two children.
Peter’s paternal grandfather was named Szymon Serafinowicz. Szymon was from Belarus, and was a member of the Belorusian Auxiliary Police during WWII. He was the first person to be put on trial under the War Crimes Act in the U.K., charged with murdering three Jews in Belarus during the Nazi occupation in WWII. He was deemed unfit for trial because of dementia, and died in 1997, the same year.
Peter’s paternal grandmother was named Jadwega. Jadwega was Polish.
Peter’s maternal grandfather was surnamed Geary.
