Jazz Singer Etta Jones Dies

Jazz singer Etta Jones died October 16 in New York from cancer. She was 72.

Regarded as the best kept secret in jazz, Jones drew her vocal inspiration from Billie Holiday and Dinah Shore, and earned two Grammy nominations.

Over the past 30 years, Jones did most of her recording with her longtime collaborator, Houston Person. In 1960, Jones earned a gold record for her recording "Don't Go to Strangers."
