Foxs Danielle Trotta SLAMS Chase Elliotts unacceptable clash with teammate Kyle Larson a
While it is expected that only the drivers in the Round of 16 would be pumped up on adrenaline and aggression during the post-season, the incident between the Hendrick Motorsports teammates Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott at Kansas indicated otherwise.
Larson and Elliott made an unfortunate contact when Brad Keselowski left the pits, leaving little space for Larson. This angered Elliott, so he again made contact with Larson with his door. Fox’s Danielle Trotta has condemned Elliott for failing to control his anger.
Trotta claimed that Elliott has developed a severe dislike of Kyle Larson, which stems back to Watkins Glen 2022. She said that since Larson is still in contention for the Championship, Elliott should have kept his cool and not risked a DNF for his teammate just because he was not happy. Trotta even went so far as to say that Elliott is ‘mentally not right.’
“You have to use better judgement, and certainly against your own teammate… Chase’s behavior was totally unacceptable in a year where his decision making has been questionable to the point of being suspended,” Trotta told SiriusXM.

Kyle Larson breaks silence on Chase Elliott’s on-track retaliation at Kansas
While Kyle Larson had a decent P4 finish at Kansas, the HMS driver might be upset as his race was affected by a lot of factors that were not in his control, one of them being his heated exchange with his teammate Chase Elliott. Mid-race, Elliott was seen taking his car into Larson’s as a retaliatory move from when Larson made an unfortunate contact with him. Post-race, Larson talked about the incident, saying he understands why Elliott got mad.
Larson explained that the situation was such that his safest bet was to squeeze into Elliott. If not for that, he risked making contact with Brad Keselowski’s front right. Larson said that he hopes Elliott sees the replays and understands his decision as he gears up for the round of 12.
“I understand why he is mad, or was mad in the moment. I hope when he sees the replay he understands I didn’t have any space, or not much just inches. So just a bummer but I’m glad neither of us got tore up there and we could get a good finish,” said Larson.
