Dua Lipa launches her brand new era with 'Don't Start Now'
Dua Lipa is kicking off her new era in style with the release of her new single ‘Don’t Start Now’.
Written by Dua, Caroline Ailin, Emily Warren and Ian Kirkpatrick, the disco-inspired track sees Dua trying to move on from a suffocating relationship. Directly addressing her ex, she sings: “If you don’t wanna see me dancing with somebody / If you wanna believe that anything could stop me / Don’t show up, don’t come out / Don’t start caring about me now.”
Speaking about ‘Don’t Start Now’, Due stated: “I chose to put this song out first so I could close one chapter of my life and start another. Into a new era with a new sound! It’s about moving on and not allowing anyone to get in the way of that. It also felt like a natural first song choice as I made it with the brilliant same crew I made ‘New Rules’ with.”
Alongside the track, Dua has also unveiled its accompanying music video. Directed by Nabil, the visual sees Dua dance and sing her way through a masked ball and an underground club.

‘Don’t Start Now’ is Dua’s second release of 2019, following on from ‘Swan Song’, which appeared in Alita: Battle Angel. However, this marks the official lead single from her highly anticipated upcoming second studio album.
Dua’s debut self-titled album was a gargantuan success for the artist, spawning eight singles including her number one hit ‘New Rules’. Dua released a deluxe edition of the album last year, which featured the likes of ‘One Kiss’ with Calvin Harris, ‘Kiss and Make Up ‘ featuring Blackpink, and ‘Electricity’ with Silk City (Mark Ronson and Diplo).
