Bob Eubanks – Biography
He was born Robert Leland Eubanks in Flint, Michigan in the United States on January 8, 1938. His father, John Otto Leland Eubanks, and his mother, Gertrude Eubanks (née McClure) were both originally from Missouri, but were later transferred to Flint. However, Bob, who is the only child of his parents, spent most of his youth in Pasadena, California. This is because her parents later moved from Flint to Pasadena.
As a child, Bob did some modeling and posed for various ad campaigns. This gave him the rare privilege of meeting his childhood hero, Gene Autry, and they did a photo shoot together. Bob listened to musical legends such as Frank Sinatra and also watched plenty of quizzes and classic TV shows while growing up. Bob Eubanks began his professional career in the 1960s as a disc jockey at KRLA 1110 in Los Angeles. Later, he moved on to television and a few movies. His first experience in television production was hosting a new game show called The Newlyweds in 1966.
The show which aired on the ABC network brought him to prominence as the youthful energy he brought made him a hit. He was known for his talent for deliberately pressuring the couples featured on the show into making hilarious mistakes. In 1976, Eubanks became the host of the Tournament of Roses Parade show on the KTLA channel in Los Angeles.
In 1992, he appeared on the hugely popular television show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, in an episode “Eyes on the Prize”, where he hosted the game show Double Trouble. Later that year he appeared on the hugely popular film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York where he played the role of a game show host in the film. He guest-starred on an episode of Nickelodeon’s Kenan & Kel sitcom in 1999. In 2000, he made a guest appearance on That ’70s Show on the episode “Eric’s Stash.”
Eubanks served as host of the Ms. Intercontinental Beauty Pageant and Miss California USA from 2000 to 2003. He has appeared on a few other TV shows and game shows over the years.
