Annie Lennox is a Scottish singer, songwriter, political activist, and philanthropist. She achieved international success in the 1980s with pop duo Eurythmics, alongside Dave Stewart. She has also been a member of New Wave band The Tourists, also with Stewart.
Annie is married to Mitch Besser. She has two children, singer, songwriter, and model Lola Lennox, and model, artist, and actress Tali Lennox, with her former husband, Israeli human rights activist, film producer, and director Uri Fruchtmann.
Annie’s patrilineal line can be traced to James Lennox, a farmer, who was born, c. 1760, in Glassford, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Annie’s paternal grandfather was Archibald King Lennox (the son of Thomas Allison Lennox and Elizabeth King). Archibald was born in Bronkle, Lanarkshire. Thomas was the son of James Lennox and Bethia Craig. Elizabeth was the daughter of Archibald King and Martha Russell.
Annie’s paternal grandmother was Jeannie Henderson (the daughter of Charles Henry Henderson and Alice Manners). Charles was the son of James W. Henderson and Jessie Fraser. Alice was English, born in Slough, Buckinghamshire, the daughter of Charles H. Manners and Martha Chandler.
Annie’s maternal grandfather was William Ferguson (the son of George Ferguson and Sophia Farquharson). William was born in Braemar, Aberdeenshire, and was a gamekeeper at Balmoral Royal Estate. George was the son of William Ferguson and Isabella McHardy. Sophia was the daughter of William Farquharson and Elizabeth Henderson.
Annie’s maternal grandmother was Dora Paton (the daughter of Alexander Paton and Annie Chalmers). Dora was born in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, and was a dairy maid at Balmoral Royal Estate.
